5 Things to Bare in Mind When Setting Goals and Intentions

Updated: Oct 7, 2022

January is usually the time for all things new resolutions, goals and dusting those running shoes off and fighting for space at the gym. Not this year! For the gym part anyway! Just because we are experiencing a prolonged change and let’s face it, slight kick in the gut with lockdown #3 upon us, you can still set goals and intentions for the year ahead and importantly your every day life. Here’s the thing about goal setting, it’s not necessarily about the goal you achieve, it’s about the journey you go on as you strive for it and the person you become along the way. I adore the quote by Dr Wayne Dyer ~ “Have a mind that is open to everything, but attached to nothing”. Let this be your mantra for 2021! We simply don’t know what’s around the corner, but it’s our duty to stay optimistic and adaptable. Which if there’s anything 2021 has taught us, my gosh are we adaptable and resilient beings when the going get’s tough!! So when it goes to deciding whether or not you should be setting goals and intentions for the forcible, absolutely HELL YES! Here’s 5 things to bare in mind as you do so: Be courageous. It’s going to take a little courage to get started and dream big for yourself after the year we’ve had. Go for it anyway, what’s the worst that can happen? Set the goal and visualise the process and destination. Whether you set time aside for meditation and visualision practices or you simply sit with a brew and have a day dream (what you’ll catch me doing most days now I’m running my business around my twin boys!) Practice believing. Let your mind picture all the exciting things that are on their way to you and what it will feel like achieving your goals. The more you have faith and believe it’s possible for you, the more of a vibrational match you are to the energy of your desired goal. Let go of limitations and watch what happens when you give yourself permission to believe. Take inspired action. When you have a sudden thought or slight burst of inspiration or energy, take the action. Don’t delay! The likelihood is that inspiration will fizzle as you go about other tasks. Take a breath, take the action. Let go of the outcome. Sound’s a little funny when we’re talking about goal setting and achieving, but when you release the outcome, you often release any fears or limiting beliefs you may have been subconsciously being holding onto. When you focus on enjoying the process and celebrate the person you are becoming on your way to your goal, the outcome takes care of itself. Join the Warrior Academy Here
